Happy New Year! Some goals, and introducing the Ruler Pegboard of Shame from A Prim and (not so) Proper Quilter

Happy 2024 to you!  Today I celebrate 31 wonderful years of quilting.  Onward and upward!

I have a confession about rulers—I buy them and then never use them.  Maybe I’m just a collector.

I always have the best intentions when I buy a ruler or a template set.  I find I buy most of them when I go to a quilt show.  I see what I can do with them, excitedly buy them, encourage my companions to buy them so we can do it together, get home and hang them on the Ruler Pegboard of Shame where they ...

“Sharing the Process” - Part 4 from A Prim and (not so) Proper Quilter

Just a bit more progress.

I reported in the last progress update that I used scraps from the project to make a decorative border for the center panel.  It took some tweaking, but I’m very happy with it. I had so much fun making these strips that I’m thinking of making a quilt with nothing but these.  Another retirement project!

I played with the placement of blocks around the center panel.  Once I was happy, I left it all on the design wall to marinate.

A couple of weeks later I thought, “what if the center panel wasn ...

“Sharing the Process” - Part 3 from A Prim and (not so) Proper Quilter

Quality time was spent on this project during my July vacation and over a couple of weekends.

I’m an overthinker and need to let things stew a bit.  It slows me down, but that’s how I roll.  I mentioned in my last update that I had reworked the layout in Electric Quilt, and I still think that works. I’m really liking what I see on the design wall.

I have added borders to each of the exchanged blocks and will cut them to a uniform size:

I have squared up the center panel:

What has changed from ...

It’s a new week. from A Prim and (not so) Proper Quilter

Never mind that it's Wednesday--I’m off from work!

Just a sampling of some of my stash...

I’ve been obsessing lately about my fabric stash.  The studio in the new house will be two rooms for a combined square footage of less than 300 square feet.  I will probably do what I’m doing now; store it in the closet of one the rooms to protect it from light.

I have been looking at quilt patterns and other fabric makes for ideas on how to quickly use up the stash that I no longer desire.  I did give ...

"Sharing the Process" - Part 2 from A Prim and (not so) Proper Quilter

And finally, we sew! ... and notes about living in the moment.

A week ago on Sunday morning I headed into the studio, cleaned and oiled The Beaut, and started sewing.

Section A was first (obs), and I stitched verrrrrrrrryyyyyyyyyy slowly.  I picked up a little bit of speed with Section B, and was sailing along by Section C.  Not at max speed, mind you; more like, I know where I'm going and this is good.

LeiLani's head laid out for piecing

Because it's paper piecing, it's all straight lines and no Y- or partial seams; and ...

Welcome to "Sharing the Process" - Part 1 from A Prim and (not so) Proper Quilter

I finally started the center section of my Stitch & B!tch Sampler.

After completing the roadmap for the Sampler, it sat on the design wall for a month; we left for Myrtle Beach and spent a lovely 10 days there, and the remainder of my vacation was spent doing other things when we returned home.  One of my favorite photos from trip:

My birthday was two weeks ago.  The day before I spent getting a few more pieces of fabric for the background and a substitute for someone's clothing ...

Design Wall Monday - Stitch & B!tch Sampler progress from A Prim and (not so) Proper Quilter

If you routinely follow this blog, you know I don't make a routine out of Design Wall Monday.

But that's because my design wall doesn't change on a frequent basis. I anticipate that will change when I retire...maybe.

I am, again, hoping to work exclusively on this project until it is done (fat chance) and I promised I would post updates. I'm fairly certain this quilt will take me at least a year to complete.

I picked up the pattern at FedEx on February 21. In the last 3 weeks, I have sporadically been in ...
